Dead Man Retro Tee Release- Sat 6.25

Memories lurk everywhere in the basement of bodega. We came across our first season of tees from five years ago and unearthed the dated Mars Deadman Tee that came out back in the day … I did this one with help from Winston & Julia

We decided to listen to some smarter friends and do another run of the Mars Deadman tee as part of our five year anniversary projects.

This saturday, 6.25.11, we are releasing the retro tee online and instore. It retails for $35 and comes with a keychain pictured.

Fourth Wall Project : Zsuzsanna Szegedi – “Temporal Works”

June 2 – June 26, 2011
Opening reception:
Friday, June 10th

Fourth Wall Project is pleased to present a solo exhibition by Zsuzsanna Szegedi titled Temporal Works.

Temporal Works uses the natural world as a departure point to explore the idea of transience in a durational medium. The collection of video, sculptural and performance work investigates the connection between the audience, artist and the ephemerality of the art being created. Viewers become participants as they get up close, touch and interact with the work.

“Eventually the collaborative effort — be it active or passive — shapes the outcome of this project.”

Trace with Me is a single-channel projection which invites the viewer to step into the frame and co-create a drawing by following a projected rhythm and pattern. With the original maker removed, it is a private meditation.

A large-scale drawing performance, Erase with Me, incorporates the Fourth Wall Projects’ storefront windows and emphasizes the process of removal. The actual drawing that takes a few days to complete is made solely to be destroyed in front of an audience within hours. As participants erase and wash away marks to transform the so-called “finished” drawing, the status of “complete” becomes arbitrary. This performance will take place June 10th at the opening reception and again on June 24th.

Zsuzsanna Szegedi moved to the U.S. from Hungary in 1997 after attending Janus Pannonius University. She received a BFA from the Massachusetts College of Art & Design and currently teaches there. She has had solo exhibitions at the Fruitlands Museum in Harvard, MA and the Danube Museum in Esztergom, Hungary. She recently finished a 6-month residency at Samsøn where she concentrated on experimental video works. Her work was recently included in the Boston CyberArts Festival and at the St. Botolph Club.

Gallery Hours: Wed- Friday 1-6pm Sunday 12:30-5pm.

Danielle and myself are in this book!

The Marc Jacobs location on Newbury Street in Boston will be playing host to the book release party for “I Love My Bike” later this week.  This project was brought to life by our friends, Matt Finkle and Brittain Sullivan, who visited various parts of the country to create this photo compilation book of bike lovers.   Support these guys and purchase your copy of “I Love My Bike” here.  For more information head over to and check out the video below to get the gist of how they went about gathering the stories and photographs behind this project.

Zion I for Artists for Humanity

Zion I & Grouch will be hitting the stage next week at the Middle East Club as a part of their “Healing the Nation” Tour in partnership with Artists for Humanity. This tour is devoted to acknowledging and supporting organizations who in some way have displayed acts of heroism within their community. A portion of each ticket sale will be donated to Artists for Humanity, support the cause and buy your tickets here.

Artists for Humanity (AFH) is a Boston-based organization that came to fruition in 1991 and focuses on giving inner city children the opportunity to express themselves through the arts. By granting access to the necessary mediums, AFH promotes creative productions of all sorts from these children in areas such as but not limited to: graphic design, painting, and photography. Although the arts serve as the main source of empowerment behind the organization, AFH also manages to convey the importance of respect and responsibility by offering paid employment, transitioning young artists to become young entrepreneurs. Nike x FootLocker x Cool Kids

nike – bodega?

Footlocker’s new Nike ad features the Cool Kids, as well as appearances by Amar’e Stoudemire, DeSean Jackson, Chris Bosh, and Ken Griffey Jr. Does the setting seem like a hybrid of Johnny Cupcakes and Bodega?

Bodega X Reebok Nightsky

Coming off his recent success, Terry’s gone all Mr. Outdoorsman on us and decided to take a little trip up north. Sneaker Freaker Magazine got a hold of his “Designer’s Log” — chocked full of completely illegible journal entries detailing his strenuous quest.

Alive and Deliverance are buffering right now on YouTube. Per recommendations from industry reps, I will watch them and hope to be inspired.
[EDIT:] Just finished the movies, and my mind is officially blown. I will ride my bike to the Eddie Bauer Outlet tomorrow to get some gear and prepare. Am I ready for the outdoors? Or is the outdoors ready for me?

03/21, 15:33
Showed up a few hours late to work ‘cause I had to go to the EB Outlet. Sometimes people just don’t understand what it takes. People at the shop are saying they’re sick of me, so they want me to head up to the mountains and field test my Night Sky boots.

03/22, 09:36
The ascent begins…

03/22, 09:45
I’ve bunkered down and established base camp. This tent got tricky on me, but I figured it out. My boots and rations should hold me over for now…
[EDIT:] I definitely didn’t pack enough food. I need to look for some vegetation.

03/22, 11:53
Found something edible at the base of a tree. Looked like one of my snacks… almost like a Twinkie.

03/22, 13:??
Not sure if I’m seeing things, but I definitely saw a wolverine chasing a copperhead snake. My mouth is so dry. I want to go find my spirit animal. I wish I had my Xbox up here. I feel like my tent was a different color earlier. Am I in someone else’s tent?

03/22, ??:??
These birds outside are killing my high. Why does nature hate me?

03/22, ??:??
Found what looks like a squirrel next to my tent. I made a piece out of it since I forgot some necessities back in reality. I’m pretty sure that’s what my spirit animal would want me to do.

03/23, 07:24
What the hell happened yesterday? It must’ve been that Twinkie I found. I need to fight my way off this mountain. I can’t be up here another night.

Bodega is proud to announce the release of the Bodega x Reebok Night Sky. Each pair of shoes will come with a matching tee and water bottle. Field tested by Bodega’s quasi-intern Terry Blay, the boots have been affectionately named the “Nappy Dugouts” referring to the deep shaggy “muppet skin” suede. The “Nappy Dugouts” also feature fast gripping gum sole, alpine-style quick lacing system, and rip stop paneling throughout the body. This limited release will be made available at Bodega on Saturday, April 16th 2011. The shoes retail for $135 and can be purchased both in-store and online at The “Nappy Dugouts” will go live online at midnight, Saturday, the 16th.

Not sure how you would go about categorizing the genius of Hennessy Youngman. He’s probably the most original voice exploring and deconstructing the artworld. Shout out to Nick Z for blessing us.
