Diggers With Gratitude 2

Some of NYC’s best DJ’s join together for Kon’s fundraiser at Santo’s Party House.

Acclaimed DJ, legendary digger and our good friend Kon (of Kon & Amir fame) has been hospitalized lately which has left his pockets flat, not fat. Come out and celebrate helping the homie out, with some of New York’s illest DJs. On the set:

Come and Support a brother in arms whose numerous contributions to society have kept asses moving, souls soaring, and panties dropping.

dj AM g.o.a.t.

This is really a sad year for music as another great musician passes away. Not much to say with words. We must remember what he gave to the world and celebrate his life. Amazing turntablist and party rocker, he inspires a generation.

Haven’t had the pleasure of hearing him play? Here’s one of his flawless, thoughtful, and maddeningly creative live mixes:

Top 50 Shops -Dime Magazine

Also, just wanted to shout out the allmighty nike for seeding me with some new prototypes. Keep the heat coming….

Our friend Esteban recently finished a short documentary on Pablo Escobar’s (the 7th richest man in the world in 1989 according to Forbes) personal photographer for VBS. Check it out Below.

Last time I was out in nyc for that g-shock /kanye party, Este took me to an east village speakeasy named cabin to say what’s up to our homey Mike from dead trees who was slinging beers to supermodels before heading out for a couple dates in Brazil.

That was after earlier festivities w/ Greg & Ease of Mishka who run two parties that night…..one with Andy from the Smiths Djing:

and the second one was mad hipstered out w/ 45 people taking photos -even the village voice has a slideshow up- while Darth Bano from Ninjasonik played in the ex-massage parlour known as Happy Endings…..the party was aptly named popping bottles and getting pregnant and marked the release of Darth’s mixtape for Mishka’s rad mix series….you can download here.

Lastly, our friend Meighan writes for Juxtapoz & her own site - My love for you is a stampede of horses

Please vote for her to win the shortlist arts & culture site prize from Dazed & Confused Magazine.
She writes about new artists pretty(as opposed to the same 20 that seem to get all the press in the world) much every day and has an incredible eye and deserves to win. She will also be curating the upcoming October art show at our space – fourth wall project.

weekly dig remix issue launch w/ jayceeoh, kon & vuitton, mr matt & ghostdad.

Sometimes when you answer an interview, you know what quote they’re going to pull and put in blockquotes. The Weekly Dig recently surveyed a bunch of crews – bladerunners, bruno, jayceeoh, kon, fully fitted – about what makes a good remix and they pulled the following quote from me regarding the johnny blaze mix called “black sheep”

it sounds like a unicorn giving birth to rainbows while in the backseat of a cadillac going 95 mpg through harlem

anyways, we’re playing the release party for this issue…

My homeys Kon and the Bodega Girls are playing this Sat w/ Peanut Butter Wolf For free…free dranks also

And Pete the dude's sneaker pimps tour is coming Saturday as well....all ages.

Humandrift At FourthWall

Nick Z – Don’t Hassle Me I’m Local – At Fourth Wall

JUNE 27, 2009 – JULY 5, 2009
Opening Reception June 27 (7:00-9:30pm)
132 Brookline Ave Boston, MA

Don’t Hassle Me I’m Local, an exhibition of new paintings and drawings by Nick Z, opens Saturday, June 27th , at Fourth Wall Project’s 132 Brookline Ave space. The show is not just a display of new work, but an experimental installation. Vistiors will enter the world of Nick Z.

Nick Z is a mixed media artist who uses his drawings as a foundation to make work that ranges from small scale pen and inks to large scale on site installations. Random phrases, spray-painted images, deceptive caricatures, abstract symbols, sculpture fabricated from found objects and video combine to create intuitively structured environments through which he explores the subjects of wonder, hope, wants, needs, paranoia, physicality, and love.

Since graduating with a BA from University of Massachusetts Boston in 2001 he has spent time living in the cities of Boston and New York making artwork, traveling, and exhibiting globally from Hong Kong to Montreal, Canada and extensively on the East Coast, most notably a two person exhibition alongside Kai Althoff at Gladstone Gallery in New York.

Nick Z has attracted the likes of commercial clients such as PEPSI Co., Converse, and even Neiman Marcus with his eye catching youthful aesthetics.

The opening of Don’t Hassle Me I’m Local follows Nick Z’s inclusion in the North East Edition of New American Paintings.
